Things are getting crazier and crazier out there.
We need to do all we can to get healthier now.
Grow your own, raise your own, make your own.
Buy local, by fresh whole food.
EDUCATE yourself on diet and nutrition.
---
People are being arrested and going to jail for selling whole foods.
Check out these stories:

"It is the latest case of extreme government food tyranny, and one that is sure to have you reeling in anger and disgust. Health department officials recently conducted a raid of Quail Hollow Farm, an organic community supported agriculture (CSA) farm in southern Nevada, during its special "farm to fork" picnic dinner put on for guests -- and the agent who arrived on the scene ordered that all the fresh, local produce and pasture-based meat that was intended for the meal be destroyed with bleach."

Raw Milk Debate from Feb. 16, 2012

There are groups challenging the FDAs policy on raw milk:

According to this stupid law, women who breast feed their babies are breaking the law, why? Because they are feeding them RAW UNPASTEURIZED UNFILTERED MILK.

Need another reason to get you children out of public schools.
Read this article: "School Denies Student Right to Eat Lunch From Home."
"A four year old student in North Carolina was not allowed to eat the lunch her mother packed for her. Apparently her lunch was taken away from her because school officials claimed it was not healthy enough to eat based off of the USDA guidelines."
This is happening all across the country. In Chicago kids can't bring lunch form home. The good old USDA and Monsanto are looking out for our kids.
This in insanity, it's a lot worse than you will ever hear in the media.

On the home front.
Our first batch of Kombucha was ready last week. My daughter was so excited. It tasted better than the store bought kombucha. If you buy it by the case it's $3.00 for a 16 oz. bottle. We are making 3 gallons a week. I love saving that money. Plus I know I'm getting a better product.
Give it a try, it's easy.
Kombucha is a type of tea that has been fermented and is usually consumed for beneficial health reasons, but often also has a taste that many enjoy. The two primary ways of obtaining Kombucha is by making it yourself at home or by purchasing it at the store. You can often purchase a commercial kombucha product and utilize the existing culture in the bottle to make a new “mother” mushroom by which to brew your own tea.
Here are two helpful sites, everything you ever wanted to know about Kombucha:
Both sites offer free instructions and videos on how to make your own Kombucha.
They also offer supplies and starter.
I hope you will look into making your own Kombucha. We love it.

My chickens are doing well.
I ended up with 40 chicks. I will be giving some to my daughter for my granddaughter to take care of. In a few months I hope to have plenty of fresh eggs. This should put an end to my table scrap problem and add to my compost pile.
If you can't raise your own chickens check your area for farmers that sell fresh eggs and meat. Try a web site called EatWild,
Eatwild provides:
• Comprehensive, accurate information about the benefits of raising animals on pasture.
• A direct link to local farms that sell all-natural, delicious, grass-fed products.
• Support for farmers who raise their livestock on pasture from birth to market and who actively promote the welfare of their animals and the health of the land.

Check out LocalHarvest for fresh locally grown organic produce.
The best organic food is what's grown closest to you. Use this website to find farmers' markets, family farms, and other sources of sustainably grown food in your area, where you can buy produce, grass-fed meats, and many other goodies.

I would like to recommend a book called "Folks, This Ain't Normal: A Farmer's Advice for Happier Hens, Healthier People, and a Better World" by Joel Salatin.
No more normal, just another reason we have to step up and do more now.
