POSTS FROM JUNE 24 2011

This website is dedicated to all those who are over weight, or have health problems, and want to learn why. Why is it that you do everything you are told and STILL can't lose weight. You diet only to gain the weight back. Why is it that you don't feel like you would like to. Is it just part of getting old?

I'm going to tell you how I went from death to life. What I've learned during my decade long study into health, diet, and nutrition, how I live now and give tips and how to information. I offer help free of charge.  I hope you will join me in my journey.
The picture on the left is me at over 340 pounds. The middle picture is after an 80 pound loss. The picture on the right in me now after a total of 160 pounds lost.

SALTY CRUNCHY

MY 160 POUND WEIGHT LOSS

My study into health and nutrition began 12 years ago. At that time I had just lost my wife to a health related illness. I was obese and in bad health myself. In the following  2 years I lost 160 pounds and lots of health problems.

I started a blog to talk about what I had learned back in June of 2011. I have posted most of my old blog posts here on this blog. Go back several pages to read the first, and work yourself up to the newer posts.  Some of the links are no longer active, it has been 10 years. I will be adding updated information. ----------------------------------------------------------------

This blog is about me learning to lose weight. It took me a while to learn and do. But I lost 160 pounds and lots of health problems.

I did it by learning what to eat and what to avoid. It's simple, anyone can do it.

No diet,

No doctor,

No pills,

No surgery,

No exercise,

No counting calories.

Simple, JERF, Just Eat Real Food.Paleo, Keto, LCHF, Low Carb High Fat. Ancestral. What ever you call it, it's a lifestyle not a diet.

One of my weaknesses was potato chips. You can put all the candy, cookies, cakes and pies around me all you want and I won't touch them. But potato chips, now I would have a hard time resisting them.
SO, I found a healthy alternative. It's the salty crunchy that I miss.
I now make KALE CHIPS.
I'm making some today. Using my own hydroponically grown kale.

I thought I had posted about this in a previous post, but I can't find it so here it is.
Here is how I do it...

#1 harvest or purchase fresh kale.

#2 Wash and dry it.

#3 Take the stems off

#4 Coat it with olive oil

#5 Put it on your dehydrator trays and dry it.

#6 When dry put into a ziplock bag.

#7 ENJOY

GROW YOUR MEDICINE AT HOME.

Prescription drugs taken as directed kill over 110,000 Americans a year.

God has given us all the "medicine" we need in nature.

You can grow your own medicine at home by sprouting.

What are the benefits of sprouts?

Sprouts are the germinated seed of a vegetable, young plants on their way to full growth.

Sprouts are jam-packed with vitamins and minerals, fiber and are a great source of antioxidants,

For instance Broccoli sprouts will be loaded with vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, folic acid and they are a really good source of the powerful antioxidant sulforaphane.

Sprouts can also carry other nutrients like B vitamins and minerals like phosphorus and magnesium. Plus, they’re low in calories.

Sprouts help you fight illness and are anticancer

Raw sprouts, especially broccoli sprouts, have a plentiful supply of antioxidants. Broccoli helps activate and strengthen our body’s natural cancer protection.

Broccoli sprouts are about 50 times more powerful in cancer prevention than the mature plant.

Sprouts support healthy digestion

Raw sprouts are also good for your gut. Studies have shown that the soaking process actually increases the amount of enzymes available to the sprout, and increases the amount of fiber in the sprout, The fiber combines with enzymes to help break down food more efficiently, making sprouts a great digestion-friendly addition to your diet.

Sprouts improve insulin resistance

For folks who struggle with insulin resistance find sprouts to be a helpful addition to their diet.

Sprouts boost the immune system

The natural bioactive sulforaphane compound in sprouts helps activate the body’s immune response against viruses.

You can enjoy fresh sprouts all year long.

Someone asked me what seeds I use. I've tried several brands of sprouting seeds. One company I am pleased with is Easy Peasy.

Some brands have a low germination rate. Easy Peasy has a HIGH rate. I recommend them. I get mine on Amazon, CLICK HERE

CRAZY TIMES

What crazy times we live in. Shortages and rumors of shortages everywhere.

I haven't post here for sometime. With Biden's "Dark Winter" upon us I thought I should try and help those trying to eat healthy in a time of shortages.
Most food shortages don't bother me. I JERF, Just Eat Real Food. 95% of the junk they call food in the supermarkets should be avoided anyway.

You should be buying as much food directly from your local farmer as you can. The farmers need us, and we need the farmers, now more than ever.
There is a website that lists local farmers that sell to the public all across the country it's EatWild.com CLICK HERE

 GROWING YOUR OWN GREENS
I've posted in the past about seed sprouting as a way to have fresh greens in your home year round. Scroll on down the blog to find the post on sprouting.
HYDROPONICS
Another way to have fresh vegtibles is home hydroponics. There is a new method of hydropoonics that I have just learned about. It's called the Kratky Method. Easy as pie. No more air hoses and pumps

YOU HAVE TO MOVE

MY 160 POUND WEIGHT LOSS

YOU HAVE TO MOVE

MY BELLICON REBOUNDER

I was just listening to Dr. Jane Ruby talk about the EXPLODING rate of cancer in those who have taken the covid "vaccine". especially lymphoma.

Got me thinking about the lymphatic system. It's part of the immune system that filters the blood. It doesn't have a pump like our circulatory system does. It is dependent on movement. And we just don't move enough.
That's where a rebounder comes in. I first found out about rebounding 10 years ago when I began a study into health and nutrition that led me to lose 160 pounds and lots of health problems. SCROLL ALL THE WAY DOWN ON THIS BLOG TO SEE MY FIRST POST FROM 2011

I found the study from NASA that shows Rebound Exercise Is The Most Efficient Form Of Exercise Yet Devised By Man. CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE.

I sold all my exercise equipment and bought a Bellicon Rebounder. The best on the market. I still have it 10 years later, and still use it. CLICK HERE TO LEARN MORE

When I purchased it I was about 350 pounds so I bought the big heavy duty one. I got the one with fold up legs so I could take it with me when I traveled. It slides under the bed when you're not using it.

You COULD use a large trampoline. But a rebounder fits in your room.

It's as fun as jumping on the bed when you were a kid, but without getting yelled at.

GROW YOUR OWN

GROW YOUR OWN

START AN INDOOR GARDEN TODAY

We’ve all experienced shortages over the past couple years. Even now we see empty shelves and sold out items every time we go shopping.

It’s important that we do all we can to prepare for coming food shortages. Now is the time to stock up as much as we can. I’ve posted an article about sprouting. How you can grow fresh greens in your home year round with no garden and no soil. Go back and check out the article.

Another way you can grow fresh vegetables in your home even during the winter, with no soil is hydroponics.

In the past growing vegetables using hydroponics has been complicated and expensive. Requiring tanks, pumps, hoses and lots of time. Not anymore.

A new method, at least new to me  allows you to greatly simplify and makes it almost effortless to have fresh vegetables growing in your home. Year round.

It’s called the “Kratky Method Hydroponics”.  You don’t need pumps and hoses. Just a plastic tote, or glass or plastic containers, grow lights, and plant food.

I planted a tote and several large canning jars with kale, and lettuce. Plant it and do nothing else till harvest time. I was able to get several harvests from the same planting. They keep growing back till the water is used up.

I’m planning on expanding from kale and lettuce, adding peppers, onions, cucumbers, and more.

I'll include links to the items you will need for your Kratky Hydroponic garden. It's best to try and find the items locally. But If you can't, they can be purchased on Amazon.

My first attempt at Kratky Method Hydroponics,
IT WORKED GREAT!

Here is a short video on the Kratky Method: https://youtu.be/KWUirDxgavc

Learn more about Kratky here: https://www.growkratky.com

*You will need a tank or containers to plant your seeds in. I shop at Goodwill stores all the time so I buy storage totes.

Rubbermaid makes the best totes. You can get them at Goodwill for around $2.  The one you see here is a Rubbermaid tote.

You will need to cut holes in the top.

You can also use large canning jars, pickle buckets or large plastic food containers.

*You will need net pots to insert into the holes cut in the top. The net pots hold the plants. Net pots come in several sizes. I use 2 inch and 3 inch pots.

*You will need a planting medium for the net pots. I have used rock wool but I prefer coconut husks.

*You will need plant nutrients.

Vegtable seeds.

*And a grow light. You can use Fluorescent tubes, but LEDs are better and cheaper to run.

EARTHING / GROUNDING

My 160 Pound Weight Loss
My study into health and nutrition began 10 years ago. At that time I had just lost my wife to a health related illness. I was obese and in bad health myself. In the following  2 years I lost 160 pounds and lots of health problems.

I started a blog to talk about what I had learned back in July of 2011. I have posted most of my old blog posts here on this blog. Go back several pages to read the first, and work yourself up to the newer posts.

One of the things I learned back then was GROUNDING, or EARTHING.  The importance of being grounded to the earth.  Up until the early 1960 we were all grounded to the earth. We had wood floors or natural fiber carpets. We wore leather sole shoes, and went barefoot a lot. When I was a boy the shoes came off as soon as the weather was warm enough.

When I found out about grounding, I purchased a grounding sheet for my bed and my life changed. I lost a lot of the health problems especially my heart problem. My skin on my lower legs was dark, looked like I was wearing tan socks. When I began grounding the color returned to normal. I began sleeping better too.

There is lots of information online about grounding now. It all started with one man, Clinton Ober. He wrote a book about it called: “Earthing: The Most Important Health Discovery Ever!” Read the book. It’s still available on Amazon and eBay.

Someone made a documentary about it called “The Earthing Movie: The Remarkable Science of Grounding”. Here is a link to it on Youtube…  https://www.earthingmovie.com

I recommend you buy a grounding mat, or grounding sheet and try it for yourself.

It’s important to be grounded, spiritually and physically. Read and study your Bible daily. Pray for understanding and SPIRITUAL grounding. Walk barefoot and use a grounding mat for physical grounding.

DON'T SETTLE

My 160 pound weight loss

I saw a post online the other day. It was telling ladies that they were beautiful just the way they are.
It was accompanied by a picture of a very overweight young lady.
Being a former fat person myself I had to comment. I said:

I don't know. I think I look better, and certainly FEEL better now that I've lost all the weight. Being a former FAT person. I can say that it's not fun, not pleasant being FAT and we should NOT settle for it. If I can do it, anyone can. Don't kid yourself, FAT people don't want to be fat no matter what they say...

Sorry to be so blunt but I believe we should not settle for being overweight. We have all the information we need now to live a healthy life. We are no longer limited to the lies that we were fed by the USDA and the medical profession for decades.  We have all the knowledge we need at our finger tips.

Following the USDA Food Pyramid and My Plate kills around 800 people a day in this country.
Go to any supermarket and see what people are putting in their shopping carts. JUNK, POISON.
They check out the junk food, then push their carts over to the pharmacy to pick up prescription drugs  to treat the side effects, illness and disease caused by the junk they just purchased as food.

Have you ever noticed that you never see any OLD fat people.

I found this 13 part video series years ago when I started my research into heath and nutrition.
Watch it. You'll learn a lot...

Don't settle for being overweight. You will feel better and live longer if you don't

Sprouts, Nature's SUPER FOOD

Kratky Method Hydroponics

It's winter now in central Kentucky. COLD.
It's the time of year we start planning the spring gardens. Poring over the seed catalogs waiting for the first warm days we can began working the soil. Well you can have fresh greens year round by sprouting. I've been sprouting for years. It's simple to do, you'll save money and sprouts are very healthy.
I sprout several different plants. My favorites are Alfalfa and Radish. Here is some of my indoor garden.

MY INDOOR GARDEN

Sprouts are becoming increasingly known for their nutrition powerhouse. With highly concentrated nutritional benefits compared to eating mature vegetables, sprouts can be easily added to your table, by adding them to salads, soups, sandwiches, stir-fries, sautéed vegetables, and smoothies. The most common sprouts include broccoli, peas, watercress, mung bean, radish, and alfalfa.

Sprouts are low in calories and rich in fibre, enzymes, protein, and other micro-nutrients. They can easily be grown at home without requiring advanced gardening skills. There are tremendous health benefits from including sprouts in your diet:

  • Sprouts are easy and cheap to grow and, as locally grown vegetables, offer additional environmental benefits by avoiding pesticides, food additives and pollution from transportation.
  • They offer a powerful source of vitamins, minerals antioxidants, enzymes that fight free radicals as sprouting can increase their potency by 20 times or more.
  • Because they are oxygen dense they protect the body against bacteria, virus and abnormal cell growth.
  • Soaking and sprouting substantially increases the fibre content in sprouts which facilitates weight loss as the fibre binds to fat and toxins to remove them from the body.
  • Vitamin, such as A, B, C and E, and essential fatty acid nutrients increase in sprouting and minerals bind to protein, making them more easily absorbed.
  • Sprouts alkalize the body and protect it from disease including cancer.
  • Sprouted seeds, grains, legumes or nuts help support cell regeneration.
  • Due to their richness in dietary fibre and low calorie content, sprouts offer a substantial help in your weight loss goals.

CHILI.
What better food for a cold winters day. I love chili. I think I make great chili and make it once a week. Enough to last a few days.
I found a way to make my Kentucky chili even better.
I add radish sprouts. Spicy radish sprouts are a great addition.
Here is a picture of the chili I enjoyed tonight.

20 MORE TO GO

If you've read my blog you know I lost 160 pounds about 8 years ago.
I've been keeping it off for the most part, but because of an injury, surgery, and recovery I did put on 50 unwanted pounds.
It seems now that it was easier to lose that 160 back then that it has been to lose this 50. I guess it just seems that way. I am older now, I think that may have something to do with it. I did let carbs creep back into my diet. It's easy to do.
While I know I will never be that FAT man again, because I live a LCHF / PALEO / KETO lifestyle now. I am looking forward to getting back down to where I want to be. I've got 20 more pounds to go.
I got stuck. I cut the carbs out but still didn't lose the weight as fast as I would have liked. I turned to fasting. Intermittent fasting. I'm on a 20/4 hour fast. That is I refrain from eating for 20 hours, and have a 4 hour window in which to eat my one meal a day. It's working. I'm dropping about 2 pounds a week.

If you'd like to know more about the LCHF / KETO lifestyle heck out:  Diet Doctor.com
I got a lot of great info from that site 8 years ago. It's still one of the best.
They did a story on my weight loss back then. My blog went from getting about 200 visits a week to over 2000 a week.

For more information on Intermittent Fasting check and subscribe to Thomas DeLauer's Youtube channel. You'll find lots of good health info here.

I may never get back down to a 32" waist again, I'm 36" now. But then again, maybe I will.

Check out my first posts from July 2011 at the beginning of this blog. You will have to scroll down several pages to get to it.
